Milestones for Kathryn

So I should have posted this earlier as now I might have the day wrong.

Kathryn got her first tooth October 16th. I saw it under her gums that week and it finally broke through on that Thursday. So she's got this lonely tooth that she eats her animal crackers with!

She had her 9 month appointment too.

20 lbs 1 oz 50-75%

28 inches long 50-75%

She's getting so big. Getting in to things. We have a filing cabinet that is her favorite thing to pull out all my files!! I've got to find a way to keep that closed. Also she's learned to open most of the cupboards. She especially likes the ones in the bathroom cause they have knobs on them to pull open. One of the cupboards in the bathroom I don't mind cause there is like 5 things in it that can't hurt her. Just velcro hair curlers.

But being as healthy as ever at her appointment. the next day she came down with a cough and I took her in a week later. She's been on some breathing treatments for the last few days and will continue for the rest of the week and then at the follow up appointment found out she has ear infections in both ears. So know we're on some antibiotics to clear that up as well.

She slept all through the night last night for the first time in a long time.

Maybe her ears have been bothering her and I just couldn't tell.

I can't wait for the holidays to see her face at all the pretty christmas lights. I'm not sure what I"ll do for my christmas tree this year. we'll see!

I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!! Christmas is my favorite to decorate for! I collect Nativities, so they're everywhere in my house! I'll post pictures of what I do this year in the new house. And with a baby. Can't put the glass things on the ground.

Captured Miracles at the Winter Holiday Marketplace

So some of you may remember that my friend Helen Robson is a photographer and did a photo shoot that had Kathryn in it. The prints are finally ready come Thanksgiving.

Halloween with Pirates

So I'm kind of late for a halloween post but I've had wedding stuff to think about still. We went to a reception up in Snowflake this last weekend or I might have gotten this in.

Well the Pirate's Cove was not a big a hit as I thought. We had hardly anyone stop by. It was awesome though. Even though I couldn't see out my front windows or door for a few weeks it was fun to help put up and dress like a pirate.

Kathryn had a lot of fun. She wasn't a pirate for halloween, she was my little angel but she had some fun before hand with the pirates that took over our front room.

She had her first sucker this halloween. She liked it some but gave up before to long.

Matt made this for a co worker. To much fun!

I love this holiday except for the fact I always by to much candy and now I don't know what to do with it all. Anyone need some candy???

John and Micah's Weekend

Matts younger brother John got married October 25th. That meant lots of family in town! It was great to have all of Matt's brothers and Sisters here for the event. Even thought not all the in-laws came and kids it was great to have the family together. They all started arriving on Wednesday last week. Jolene and her son Devin stayed with us and were the first to arrive with Granny Allen.

She stayed with her son Ben that lives behind us. Matt's dad Mick, came that night as well. Brian and family came in Wednesday night really late and stayed at Johns place for one night.

Ted's flight came in from Kentucky the next morning about 9.

Then we all went on a hike in south Mountain. It was fun and hot and tiring for all the little kiddos. Kathryn was a trooper but we did turn around half way to go sit at the park and wait for the rest. Kathryn fell asleep in the carrier Matt had for her on the way down. She got a sunburn on her big cheeks and chin.

When we got back from the hike, Matt's mom Donna was there with Maryann and then Steve arrived from Arkansas around 4.

That makes everyone there Thursday night. We got the $5 pizzas from Little Ceasars and then who ever wanted to could come to the AMF bowling for John's somewhat bachelor party. That was fun we had all but jolene come and play. Plus we had Uncle Ben come as well. Brian won the second game and I think Matt won the first game. I cam nowhere near winning. I don't think I even broke 100 either game.

On Friday we just ran errands. I went with Donna to get a dress for the wedding. She didn't like the ones she had made. Then that night Jolenes husband Ji came in from New Mexico.

That night was the wedding dinner with both families. John and Micah had it catered from Joes Real BBQ and from Waldos BBQ. They liked the meat better from Waldos and the sides better from Joes. So it was the best of the two best BBQ places in town. Kathryn got to meet one of Micah's little neices. They are only one month apart. THey had fun Friday night and then again on Saturday at the reception.
Saturday was the wedding day. It took place at the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. It was a great wedding. The sealer did an amazing job. He said two things that I thought were the best advice for any couple.

1. Stay away from Sin, Run away from it

2. Never Neglect your spouse



Afterwards we took some pictures and then ate left over BBQ and played some pool at Ben's house. The Open house was at a previous bishoprics house over on the south side of South Mountain. It was a very lovely home and a beautiful backyard. Kathryn loved eating the rocks. She was the hit of the show, well besides the bride! Micah was beautiful. They looked so happy. After the Open house the rest of Matt's brothers and sisters went to dinner for some Mexican. It was a really nice evening except for my shoes which as soon as I got home took them off and put them in my DI bag.

Jolene and Ji left Saturday night, Steve Flew out on Sunday Morning early, Ted, Maryann and the Parents stayed for church. Ted stayed until Monday Morning. That was fun having him there to visit a little more then just wedding talk. I fixed him Curry and he thought it was great. I had to show him that I can cook cause when we were at his house last fall his wife Hisako showed me up! She is the most amazing cook and its like that every night. No meal is off the cuff.
Overall it was a great weekend. Lots of people in the house and good times.

John and Micah are now on their Honeymoon Cruise to Mexico in the Gulf of Mexico. They'll be back this weekend and then they have their Reception in Snowflake the 8th. We'll join them in those festivities as well!

Weekend Getaway

We finished off our time share points in Flagstaff this last weekend. It was a really nice resort. We drove up Friday night and came home Sunday afternoon. We had a lot of fun taking pictures of Kathryn. She seems to be the center of my camera's attention.

I started reading Enders Game by Orson Scott Card out loud on the way up there so thats mostly what we did when we were in the room. And use the gigantic jacuzzi tub. It was more like a jacuzzi that you would see outside but it was inside and you had to wait for it to be filled up. It was fun having family swim time. It was seriously big enough for Matt and I and we could have fit a few more babies.

So I'll put pictures in of what we did. Kathryn really did a whole lot this time.

she also met a baby bear.

She got so tired she decided to lay down on a park bench and became a bum for awhile.

She was the right size for the Waputki Indian ruins.
She fit in the doorway just right.

She was a sleep for this part but Matt got to see what natural air conditioning felt like at the blow hole.

We also got to go see Jupiter with 4 of its moons at Lowell Observatory and another set of stars. No pictures of that as it was dark already.

Heaton Ranch a Family Gathering place

Well many of you know that my side of the family is big into having family reunions. Like a lot of them. We have one in July/ August for everyone. and then my Mom has just a Brothers and Sisters reunion in September. and then we have started a few years back having just a 1st cousins reunion in October. I have 65 1st cousins. For this one No kids are brought a long unless they are real little babies. Well I could have gotten away with bringing Kathryn but I decided it would be better to leave her home with someone. And as it turned out it was better that we did. It was so cold up there. I wouldn't have wanted to have her freeze and be cranky they whole time we were there. It would have been cool to have her see ther first snow there. It snowed all day Saturday and into the night. It covered the ground Sunday morning. It was beautiful.

So Matt and I had a good time enjoying the family and nature and golf and sleeping in for 3 days and my Sister Melissa who wasn't able to come watched Kathryn for a couple days and then my mom for Saturday and Sunday. I wanted to get golf pictures but the first picture I was going to take of golfing my camera died. stupid me not to bring the batteries with me.

So here are a couple of the pictures. I took.

I think we had 23 cousins there plus spouses we had abount 50 people there! The most we've had show up for the cousins reunion before! We had quite the experience this year. One of my cousins went on a walk around 4 by herself and then we all noticed she was gone at about 6:30 - 7. It was snowing and really cold that night so we started a couple search parties. It took us about an hour to find her. It was really scary. As it was snowing and there are streams all up and down the canyon. It was very testimony building to put the Priesthood in action and the power of prayer. Arthur, who's wife was missing was a wreck but got a blessing and looked so much better. He said afterward that he was thinking that there was not a better place for this type of thing to happen being with so much family and the sacredness of a family gathering place. One of my other cousins is very close to our grandparents who have passed away and said that my Grandma was there telling us to get out there and look for Michelle as she was in trouble. And When Michelle came back and was telling us what she remembered. She said she has a couple panick attacks and remembers saying that she didn't want to die out there and at that moment she had and extra feeling of energy and felt someone pushing her in the right direction. I'm sure that that was my Grandma keeping her safe. My Grandma was an amazing women. I have no doubt she was there this weekend and each and every weekend we are there keeping the family together.

Rachel and Mike Hanchett are the barely there figures in the snow picture.Kathryn got to play with my sisters Saint Bernard. Its just a baby can you believe it. 6 months old. This was a few days before but I'm sure that they played all the time. Kathryn loves animals.
