Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cookie Treats

My Sister made these cookies for our family Sunday dinner and Oh My Goodness they are amazing! So I'm going to try my hand at them. The peanut butter cookie part is in the oven right now and then after that the chocolate part.

New Creations

So I got some more ideas of fun clothes to make. Absolutely LOVE them.

First I made a skirt for me out of some left over material I had from my wedding. Love it!

Then I made this adorable dress for Kathryn. I had her wear it yesterday and I got two comments that it looked like it was store bought. I do think it looks amazing!

And they were EASY to make! who would have thought elastic thread could do so much to an outfit!

Nursery Hear We Come!

Those of you members of the LDS church know that 18 months is like a huge age to get to. At 18 months you get to send your little one to nursery for 2 of the 3 hours of church. Meaning for us that Matthew actually gets to attend his meetings. He was the one to take her cause I taught a primary class and am now in the presidency. So having Kathryn around all the little kids is really disrupting. Anyway, we made it. Kathryn has officially gone to nursery 3 times and has not made a fuss about it ever. She loves going. She'll probably end up being one of the kids that run away from their parents so they can get to nursery as fast as they can.

With the coming of 18 months came another doctors appointment. I love my doctor. Pueblo Pediatrics is an awesome office. I never have to wait for more then like 5 minutes and once I'm in its not more then just a few minutes for the doctor to come in. I've seen all three doctors there now and I"m impressed with all of them. Cimenello is who I usually see. He is my older sisters kids doctor too and he even asks about them sometimes. So he know's his patients well.

Stats this time are 23.2 lbs (35%) and 31.4 inches tall (45%). She's evenin out. before she was one she was always in the 50-75%.

He asked how many words she knows and I was like I don't know, a lot.. So Matthew and I sat down after that and wrote out all the words we know she says and understands. We have a list of over 60 words and a few phrases.

She jabbers all the time. She sounds like she is saying full sentences all the time. Like she knows exactly what she is saying and sometimes expects me to know what she is saying too. I'm sure she is saying a lot more then what we came up with. I can't believe how fast she is growing up!

Foreign Exchange #2

I got to meet my second girl I get to be the coordinator for on Saturday. I got there right on time and I remembered my purse!! Her flight was early and I went to baggage claim and I see a girl that kinda looks like Frederike but I'm not sure. I should have made a sign but I thought the host family would have a sign for her. Anyway I over hear her ask an attendant a question and I knew for sure it was her. I'm glad I found her cause her host family was still up at the gate and had totally missed her. I sat down at baggage claim with her for a while and I called and left a message with her HFamily. Then I put a message in the Caller thing to do a load annoucement for her Host Mom.

Frederike is an awesome girl. I brought kathryn with and they colored together while we waited for her host family. She is from Germany and will be staying up in the white mountains for this school year.

She's staying with a big family, with lots of animals, even a horse. She was so suprised they had a horse. I'm sure she is going to have a blast with all those people around. I can't wait to get to know her better as well.

My two girls, Carolina and Frederike. I felt so sad having to leave the airport without them. Maybe next year we'll have a house big enough to have a student of my own.

Don't leave home without this...

Yesterday I went to the airport to meet my first Foreign Exchange student and I was so in a rush. I couldn't find the parking lot for ever. (who parks at the airport) I never park at the airport. always just meet at the curb or be dropped off. Anyway, So I was rushing in and was worried I missed her and her dad. I put her name on the messageing center and waited for close to an hour. But when I was about to leave they came off the plane. The Airline had lost or someone picked up the wrong bag. So they were like the last one's out of customs.

They are such nice people. She is from Mexico City. Her dad was so nice and offered to take me to lunch. We ate at Chili's in the airport. They are going to be spending a day here in Phoenix before heading off to Snowflake.

It is going to be such a fun year being able to get to know such a fun girl. She brought me a necklace from cancun which amazingly enough matches a skirt I just made yesterday. I'll wear it on Sunday.

I would post pictures but to my title of this blog. Don't leave home without your purse!!! I parked and rushed in with Kathryn and got to the gate and realized I didn't have my purse, wallet, camera all if it. I so hoped I had enough money in my change drawer in the car to leave the parking complex. I probably would have if we didn't eat lunch there but to no avail I got to the gate check out and I had 4 dollars and I put my little ticket in and it rings up 9 dollars. He said it would have been routine if i would have had a licence with me but since I had no ID or anything they had to take some extra steps cause of car thefts that happen. I sat at the gate for a good 10 minutes. Finally I got an invoice that I have to pay back in 10 days. The guy in the both was nice though. He was going to just pay the $5.00 and be a good servent but I think that's against their rules. I was going to say if you pay this I promise to send you the money plus double for your help but I don't think he would have given me his address.

Lucky for me I get to go back on Saturday and go and meet my next student. And pay the ISF invoice I got from yesterday.

Heaton Family Reunion 2009

We had a wonderful time at the Heaton Reunion this year. We left Wednesday after work and got there at 2AM. Kathryn does so much better when she gets to sleep a good portion of the trip. She even went to sleep fairly soon after we got there.

Anyway on Thursday it was a day of enjoying nature and getting used to having Kathryn out in the open all the time. Thank goodness for a lot of cousins who kept an eye on her.

Our reunions are at the Heaton Ranch in Southern Utah. It's a big ranch that is owned by my grandpa's brothers and sisters. So my grandpa gets a few weekends out of the year for just his family. This is where I get to brag about how big my family is. My Mom is one of 10 kids, I am one of 65 grand kids, and Kathryn is one of 200+ great grand kids that are still growing, and the great greats are growing too! We had probably close to 150 there this time.

Back to Thursday. The guys went golfing at Mt Carmel and the girls watched kids and chatted. We went on some walks and hikes and did swings and played in the mud and water. It was hard to give Kathryn Naps with nothing to contain here and noise going all around. But we got a few in for her even so.

Friday was when most people showed up. They did a huge work project of replacing the deck in front of the A-frame. It took most of the day on Friday. It looks great and know we won't get all scraped up when we get thrown in the pond.

We had an auction on Saturday to help pay for the reunion. Everyone brings homemade items to add to the auction and then we all bid on them. One of well all my Uncles are amazing wood workers but one of them brought up a bunch of wooden cups and earring holders. I got an earring holder, the best crocheted wash clothes, and a really nice picture of my Grandparents and Great Grandparents.

Matthew went with my sister Melissa and her kids with Kathryn to the Coral Pink Sand dunes. That is an awesome sight to see. Anyone looking for some great Dunes this is the place to go. Its about 20 or so mins north of Kanab. While they were at the Dunes I took part in the annual ponding. This is where all the guys get together and stock all those 'willing' to be thrown in the pond. I like this part of the reunion. Matthew thinks is barbaric but I think it's great. I get thrown in every year! We do have rules. No pregnant or nursing mothers. and No to those who really don't want to go in. Two years ago my Aunt Maxine was the sight to see, she being 81 but this year it was my Aunt Olive who I think is 68. She was the first to be thrown in christening the new dock.

It was so nice to see so many cousins I haven't seen in a long time. and Catch up with those that I see every year. I was even better to be outdoors the whole time. It rained on us on Thursday and then was so nice all the other days.

The Heaton Ranch is definitely Heaven on Earth.
