4th of July

We had a great 4th of July. Thanks to Rachel who hosted the festivities at her house. We met there at around 10:30 to go swimming and at 1:00 we went back to their house for a barbecue. It was fun.

Matt actually got in the water. I tried to get pictures of him in the water but he didn't want any evidence that he was. He actually hates swimming but I told him I'd like him to at least try. I got really sunburned and Kathryn got a little pink but not bad. I did douse her in sun screen. Why I didn't do my self I do not know.

We didn't go out to see any fireworks that night. I did go out our front door and could see a few peeking out from behind some tree's. So I did see some. I"m not totally unpatriotic.

I actually love this holiday. I love honoring the men who have died preserving our freedom. I went to a conference this last week and the owner of Mona Vie spoke about a incident when he was speaking to a group of people where he had all who had or who were serving in any part of the armed services to stand up so that they could honor them. He said after the meeting he had one of the men come to him that was an older gentleman that had served in the 2nd world war say that that had been the nicest thing anyone had done for him since being in the war. I couldn't believe it. The men and women serving our country need our love and support.

Dallin Larsen then challenged everyone in this conference (some few thousand I would guess) that the next time they are in the airport and there is anyone in uniform to ask to buy them lunch or if time does not permit to give them a $20 as an honor to them. I told Matt that I wanted to do that next time we see any one in uniform.

I love the saying "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" with the next line being We are the Land of the Free as long as we continue being the home of the BRAVE! Lets stand up for what is right in preserving our FREEDOM.

One of my Cousins has been in the military for some 20 years and has been in Germany stationed there for the last 10 or so years. He's back with his family and will be stationed in Texas. We are having a party for him at my moms house this evening. I'm sure he has some wonderful stories to tell. He is one of the best anesthesiologists the military has. He has seen and done some amazing things over in Iraq. I hope to have some good stories to tell after getting to see him again.

Looks like you had a fun 4th of July. Kathryn seems to like the pool. I don't blame her. It's nice to get a break from the heat. I just love her cheeks. I want to squeeze them!
